Omotola cares for widows

Perhaps reminded of her own mother’s experience as a widow, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde recently hosted some widows in Lagos.

The event, which was titled, ‘The 20 Widows Makeover’, was her way of encouraging widows that strive to keep the
home front in order despite the demise of their spouses.

The event was aimed at pampering these women and helping them to boost their confidence and self esteem. The widows were given a first class treatment and beauty regime, which comprised a total makeover starting with facials and massage. Then they had their hair fixed by a celebrity hair stylist and make up by House of Tara.

The widows were treated to a shopping spree with clothes from Every Woman and finally, a photo shoot session with international photographer Kelechi Amadi Obi.

Food and drinks were in abundance during the event. Apart from these treats, the widows also went home with various gifts. Omotola said, “I imagined doing something I wished someone else had done for my mother.  If you give these women money, they would spend it on their children. This time it’s about them.

“When my mother was alive, I didn’t know I was going to lose her too soon. She was a very beautiful woman, but because of all her struggles, she neglected her personal needs. She never had the privilege of visiting the spa and going on a shopping spree. It was fulfilling to see the transformation in these women and I’m really grateful to all that helped to see this happen.”
