Hello,
We want to thank you very much for being a Messenger customer.
As you may have heard, starting 8 April, 2013 we are bringing the great features of Messenger and Skype together, including your IM and contact list. (8 April is the first day that you may be required to update to Skype).
We know that saying goodbye can be hard, but don't worry. With Skype you can continue to chat with your friends as you did on Messenger, and all your Messenger contacts will appear in Skype when you update and sign in for the first time.
So, to make sure that you can keep chatting with all your Messenger contacts, simply update to Skype now.

So, what's happening between now and the retirement? |
Messenger will continue to work as you know it today. If you are signed in with Messenger on your Windows and Mac desktops** you will see a banner notification to upgrade. When you click on the banner, an installer window will open with the request to upgrade. This will take you through our installer flow to install Skype and automatically uninstall Messenger. |

So, what's happening after the retirement? |
Messenger users on Windows and Mac desktops** will not be able to sign in and will only be able to upgrade to Skype. Can I update to Skype on my mobile? |
Yes! Skype is available on iPhone, Android and on Windows Phone 8. While Messenger will still be accessible on your mobile device until a future date, we encourage you to download the latest Skype app on your mobile. * To get group video, you'll need a Skype Premium subscription. For the best quality, we recommend calls with up to five people. ** Newer versions of Messenger will be able to receive the optional upgrade notifications. Older versions will not see the notifications and have to download Skype manually. |
